Beachmere: Curator floor talk - The collective memories of a seaside village

Join local historian Karen Wallwork for a curator floor talk as we delve deeper into the Beachmere: The collective memories of a seaside village exhibition.

The exhibition is a shared memory space, where personal stories, local histories, and cultural threads come together to form a collective portrait of Beachmere.

It invites visitors to move gently between moments in time; of domestic life, holidays, work, wartime, landscape, and First Nations connections—allowing meaningful relationships to emerge through remembrance and reflection.

The exhibition functions less as a display of objects and more as a living archive. Importantly, it positions 'place' as an active participant—one that honours memory, invites connection, and affirms the enduring spirit of this seaside village.

Free - bookings essential. All ages.

Beachmere’s rich history has been shaped by its people and coastal environment.

This exhibition celebrates the town’s enduring community spirit - still growing, remembering, and staying connected to the sea.

Through photographs, objects, artworks, and stories, discover a snapshot of the town’s layered history: From the role the environment has played in shaping its culture to its growth as a coastal suburb.

Exhibition developed by City of Moreton Bay in collaboration with historian Karen Wallwork.

Bribie Island Seaside Museum is open from Wednesday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
