Emerging Cultural Heritage Bursary

Brisbane Living Heritage (BLH) is proud to introduce the Emerging Cultural Heritage Bursary, an initiative designed to support emerging artists, curators, and cultural practitioners working with heritage themes in contemporary contexts. This program aims to foster innovative projects that explore and celebrate Brisbane’s rich and evolving cultural history.

We are seeking corporate sponsors, philanthropic partners, and government supporters to provide funding and resources to sustain this bursary program. Each bursary is valued at $5,000 per recipient per year, with an annual cohort of up to four recipients. Sponsors will gain exclusive brand exposure and the opportunity to support Brisbane’s next generation of cultural leaders.

The Emerging Cultural Heritage Bursary provides financial support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to early-career historians, artists and curators. Recipients will develop a project over a maximum 12 month period, culminating in a public presentation, exhibition, or performance.

Key Benefits to Participants:

  • $5,000 financial support for project development

  • Access to mentorship from established heritage and arts professionals

  • Networking opportunities within Brisbane’s cultural sector

  • Promotion through BLH’s marketing channels and events

  • A public showcase of their work at a BLH partner venue

We invite sponsors to join us in shaping this program and investing in Brisbane’s cultural future. Our proposal includes awarding four bursaries to Emerging Heritage Practitioners throughout the year. This initiative transforms financial support into meaningful impact, bridging the tangible and intangible. Successful recipients will be announced quarterly at our seasonal Members and Friends Events.
