District Court: A Court for all Queenslanders

The paper on the history of
the District Court of Queensland traces the highs and the lows of the court from
its establishment in 1865 and is mainly focused on the period until 1922 when it
was abolished. We will also touch on the colourful character of some of the
judges that made up the court. This presentation is based on the book A Court
Apart: The District Court of Queensland.
Guest Speaker: Dr Denver Beanland, Historian, former Queensland MLA and BCC Alderman.
