Since its founding the National Portrait Gallery has shown a strong commitment to collecting and exhibiting photography. Photography is a popular and pervasive medium and it's 'truthfulness' is well suited to the portrait genre. 1200 entries were received from across Australia for the 2009 National Photographic Portrait Prize. This exhibition is a selection of the 56 most outstanding works and includes the 2009 winner, Cormac and Callum by Ingvar Kenne.
